TransQual East of England's English Language Training project has commissioned NIACE to develop a set of beginner level ESOL course materials that are sector specific to Land-based activities, Construction and Health Care. There will also be a general module which will have a work-related theme.

These course materials will be supplied with Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans for ease of use within the learning environment.

NIACE has developed these ESOL materials to provide up to 36 hours guided learning hours of ESOL provision that has been designed specifically for those with little or no command of the English language. They will provide a starting point or foundation on which to progress into further ESOL or other learning opportunities.

NIACE has previously developed a range of course materials for LSIS designed for use at Entry Level and these materials are a natural next stage in ESOL learning and will provide a coherent progression pathway. 

The Learning Partnership - Bedfordshire and Luton intends that use of these ESOL course materials is not limited to this project alone. They are an open resource for use by the wider learning and skills sector involved in the delivery of English for Speakers of Other Languages. However, we would appreciate any feedback on the empirical application of these materials within the learning environment.
